Perfect for a woodland garden, Pacific sanicle is a perennial wildflower that typically grows in meadows or partial shade in oak woodland or mixed conifer forest.  Leaves are thick and bright green throughout the wettest parts of the growing season and look lovely in winter. Little (not showy) yellow head-like flowers bloom April-May and are attractive to many pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Native to California, Oregon and Washington, Pacific sanicle is a common and variable plant. It is not picky and is highly adaptable to different conditions and soil types, but does not like heavy clay soils that are saturated in winter.
