Adaptive annual often found growing in disturbed areas. Grows well in heavy clay soils as well as gravel!  This small plant sports many deep pink to red flowers in early spring. Compact, and long-blooming, this plant is great for mass plantings, borders or containers. Pairs well with baby blue eyes and meadowfoam for low-growing mass spring planting. Attracts flies, small bees, and bumblebees. (Wild collected in Benton County)

  • Direct sowing: Best sown in fall or early spring. Seeds germinate best in cooler temps.

Growing transplants: Seeds are not dormant, but benefit from exposure to cool temps (less than 50 degrees for 7 days) then germinate in temps between 60-65 degrees.
